Congratulations to Project Manager Adam Frantz!

Adam just completed the rigorous training required to

become a Certified Passive House Builder!

Passivehouse

Over the past two years we have further committed our practice to a building and design approach that centers on the long term health and well being of our buildings and the people inhabiting them. We have found passivehouse to provide a comprehensive framework for producing measurable and verifiable results. With a focus on greatly reducing the energy required to heat and cool living spaces, and a building science approach to indoor air quality, passivehouse is a tool that can be used by the designer, builder, and client to set and attain responsible and achievable energy consumption goals. In addition, we are working to reduce embodied carbon in the materials we choose in order to address short term carbon reduction goals.

Lake Anna Passive House, Spotsylvania, VA

Currently under construction in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. The 1800 square foot house, currently in pre-certification from PHIUS, was originally planned to be built using prefabricated panels. Budget constraints forced us to switch to SIPS construction but we have retained a concrete-less slab design to reduce embodied carbon in this all electric house. The house is on track to acheive net zero status in the summer of 2021.

Symphony Hill Passive House, Solebury, PA

This Passive House is currently in design development, scheduled to begin construction in 2021. The owners have made energy conservation and the building’s resiliency top priorities. The three bedroom, two bath home will feature a partially exposed second floor ceiling, a rain garden, and an ideally positioned solar array that is planned to supply all the homes heating and cooling energy demand.
