Project: Swarthmore Garage Rehab
Location: Swarthmore PA
This project is one of two recently completed garage conversions. In this project we removed the masonry wall between the kitchen and the existing garage, exposed the existing stair to a second floor study above the garage, and installed large industrial looking windows and a bank of white oak bookcases.
Reclaimed wide plank pine floors were installed to match the rustic character of the existing house. A reclaimed white oak slab was used to cap storage shelves next to the basement stair. The owners found a pew that we modified for seating at the kitchen table.
The black iron look of the windows was matched in the alternating rhythm of the iron and oak stair railing. A heat pump installed above a custom TV cabinet provides highly controlled comfort to the space year round.
